Tayla Purves, or “Tay” as she’s known among friends, is a rising star in the realm of media and communications within grassroots motorsport. From an early age, Tayla’s love for the high-octane world of racing was apparent. At just three years old, she fell in love with the speed and atmosphere of motorsport, glued to the TV, her excitement palpable every time a race was on.

Today, Tayla channels her passion into making a difference in the motorsport community. She thrives on sharing creativity and enhancing storylines with compelling facts, bringing the thrilling world of racing to life for fans and followers. Her role may not be behind the wheel, but her impact on the sport is undeniable, capturing the essence of each event and the spirit of competition.
Balancing her media career with university studies and managing a chronic respiratory illness, Tayla’s journey is a testament to her resilience and dedication. While her commitments sometimes limit her travel, she still manages to immerse herself in the sport she loves. Her friends and family are in awe of her achievements, although some are still figuring out exactly what she does in the media realm.
Tayla’s ultimate dream is to write for Formula 1, the pinnacle of motorsport. The idea of crafting stories about the world’s fastest drivers and most prestigious races fuels her ambition. She also aspires to broaden her experience across different categories, continually honing her skills and expanding her impact.
Among her cherished memories is her first trip to Bathurst in 2017. Watching Scott McLaughlin, a driver she had idolized for years, secure pole position while sitting on the hill opposite turn one with her parents, is a moment she’ll never forget. Another highlight was the 2024 Australian Grand Prix, where she witnessed Daniel Ricciardo in qualifying, soaking in the electric atmosphere and sharing the thrill with fellow fans.
But it’s not all smooth sailing. Tayla recalls an embarrassing moment when she got stuck jumping tyre barriers—an experience that, in retrospect, adds a humorous touch to her journey. Through it all, her support system, including her parents, her late Gram, and her best friend Mikayla, have been her pillars of strength.
For those looking to follow in her footsteps, Tayla offers heartfelt advice:
“Do it. Get out of your comfort zone; believe in yourself and just be you. People will always see the authentic you, your value, and your unique ability in the industry. Back yourself. You can do anything you put your mind to; there will be hurdles, there will be rejection. Don’t give up and get out there, do what your heart is calling for.”
Tayla Purves is more than a media professional in motorsport; she’s a storyteller, a dreamer, and an inspiration to anyone looking to make their mark in this thrilling industry.
