Racer Profile: Tanisha “Tj” Perrett

Racing Through Generations

Tanisha “Tj” Perrett’s journey in motorsport has been one of family legacy, personal growth, and dedication. As the fourth generation of women to race in her family, Tanisha was practically born into the sport, with her love for racing instilled from an early age. In 2016, her passion turned into action when her family moved closer to a local racing scene, and Tanisha began actively competing. Racing has since become a defining force in her life, offering not just adrenaline, but an incredible community of friends and supporters.

Growing up, Tanisha was often met with skepticism about her place in the sport. The challenges of being a female racer were evident, but as she grew older and entered adulthood, she found her tribe within the motorsport world. Now, she proudly considers the track her second family, where her friends aren’t just spectators, but fellow competitors who share her love for the sport.

Despite facing initial adversity, Tanisha has never shied away from the challenge of racing. Her focus is unwavering: to continually grow and improve in the sport while encouraging more women to take the plunge and pursue racing with confidence. Whether it’s behind the wheel of her stocker or assisting in volunteer roles, Tanisha’s commitment to expanding the reach of motorsports for women is inspiring.

Tanisha’s passion for racing is not just about the competition. It’s about the moments that define her journey—both the wins and the challenges. One of her most memorable experiences occurred on 1st March 2025 when she became a passenger in her own street stocker, experiencing the thrill and the adrenaline of the sport from a new perspective, riding alongside her Dad behind the wheel. It was an emotional milestone that solidified her connection to the sport she loves.

But racing isn’t always smooth sailing. In 2024, Tanisha witnessed a heart-stopping moment at a race meeting in Sydney when her best friend suffered a severe crash. The sight of the car being cut open to free her friend marked a somber moment in Tanisha’s career, yet it only strengthened her resilience and determination.

Tanisha’s list of personal achievements is proof of her hard work and determination. She has made significant strides in her racing career, with a goal to continuously improve her skills. As she competes in the Speedway Australia RSA Street Stockers, she hopes to race on new tracks, secure podium finishes, and ultimately achieve national recognition in the sport.

While Tanisha’s career is still in its early stages, her growth is undeniable. From securing her first podium finishes to mastering her stock car, she is on track to accomplish even more in the years to come.

When asked what advice she would give to others looking to follow in her footsteps, Tanisha doesn’t hesitate: “JUST DO IT! Don’t be afraid to try new things. YOLO, live the life you want to live. And if you’re afraid of everything, then unfortunately you’re in the wrong place.” Tanisha’s approach is straightforward—take chances, step out of your comfort zone, and enjoy the ride.

Tanisha’s journey wouldn’t be possible without the support of her family and sponsors, including:
