If your mum was drag racing a hot pink VT Commodore at 10.87sec @ 124mph, I reckon you would be one of the most popular kids at school. Well, Belinda’s sons (Ryder, Brayden) are exactly those very lucky and proud kids, supporting mum while she races in the Super Street category at Sydney Dragway. I’m sure 12 week old Tayte will also be proud to cheer mum along with his brothers once she gets back on track.

Belinda knows exactly what it’s like to be a proud kid, as she started out by crewing for her dad as he raced his Triumph Trident in modified bike.

But when Belinda said she wanted build on her love of cars, bikes and racing, by going racing too, dad said no to her getting on a bike, and instead bought her a 1999 AU XR8 Ford Falcon to have some fun with. It didn’t take long before she was wanting to step it up from a pretty sedate 14.79 seconds to her current PB of 10.87.

Even though Belinda has back to back NSW championships, her non-drag racing friends still find it a little strange that she’s so dedicated to the sport. But with a family who lives and breaths the sport, and her fiancé (and fellow racer) supporting her 110%, we have no doubt that Belinda will one day achieve her dream of racing in a 5 second doorslammer.

Follow your dreams and never say never.

For now, the pink Queen Bee has been sidelined following one of the scariest moments of Belinda’s drag racing life. “I blew up my motor and had oil water go under my tyres while doing at 123mph,” Belinda recalled. And if that wasn’t scary enough, some of the shrapnel from the blown up engine punctured one of the slicks and front-runner tyre.

We hope to see you and your pink Queen Bee back on track really soon.
