Having been a competitive dancer from the age of 2, and doing up to 9 classes a week, Pyper decided at the tender age of 6 that it “wasn’t really my thing”.

“So what’s your thing,” asked Pyper’s mum, Shaz.
Being a little unprepared for the question, Pyper answered with the first thing that came to mind, even though the loud noises used to terrify her.
“Motorbikes!”
Even though mum said no, dad bought Pyper a small quad to have a play with at their property, but she quickly demonstrated by riding the little engine too hard, that it was the thrill of racing that she was really in to.
“So mum and dad took me to a race track, and now this is my life.”
As the only female junior to represent WA in the Nationals, and with aspirations of being a professional road racer, Pyper likes to spread her racing talents across 3 different disciplines. [ed: Shortly after writing this article, Pyper placed 8th in Australia for junior lites and number 1 in Australia for female junior lites.]
Motocross is full on, racing her KTM85cc against not just the other riders but also racing different tracks and conditions. Supermoto combines dirt and road skills in the one race on her DHZ Outlaw 160cc, and then there’s the Honda CBR150cc in Road Racing events which is Pyper’s favourite.
Pyper loves the fact that she’s doing something outside of school that’s pretty different to most kids her age, and has a great following of proud but surprised friends supporting her endeavours. Early on, when her school friends had trouble believing what she got up to on the weekends, Pyper – with the help of a very supportive mum and dad – put on a display at her school, showing them her bikes and all her gear. I have no doubt there were a few trophies on display too.
When we asked Pyper what advice she has to give other girls who want to try something different, she said simply, “DO IT! And only look back to see how far you’ve come.”
Apart from a very supportive mum and dad, Pyper has a long list of sponsors and supporters helping her to reach for the stars, who without she would not be able to improve on her lap times week after week, or travel interstate to compete.
