The Heartbeat of Motorcycle Drag Racing
In the exhilarating world of motorcycle drag racing, Natasha Hayden—fondly known as Tash—has carved out a unique and impactful role. As the crew chief for her partner Daniel Natalotto, and a mentor at Streetbike Drag School, Tash’s journey is a testament to passion, dedication, and love for the sport.

Tash’s introduction to drag racing was a serendipitous event that occurred six years ago on a Whoopass Wednesday evening at Perth Motorplex. What started as a casual outing with a friend turned into a life-changing experience when she met her fiancé, Daniel. A week later, she was on the track, and she’s been hooked ever since.

Today, Tash is deeply involved in the motorcycle drag racing community. She coaches newcomers at Streetbike Drag School, sharing the basics and helping them overcome their initial fears. Her commitment to the sport goes beyond personal interest; she’s dedicated to fostering growth and encouraging riders to step up to the competition level, ensuring the sport’s vitality.
Tash’s love for what she does is palpable. “I love giving back to the motorcycle drag racing community and helping the sport grow by encouraging riders to step up into competition level to keep our sport alive,” she says. Crewing for her partner Daniel is a joy for her. They operate like a well-oiled machine, with Tash anticipating Daniel’s needs before he even speaks. She has stepped aside from her own racing to support Daniel’s goals, and together, they are achieving remarkable milestones.
While Tash coaches once a week and crews during the drag racing season, she occasionally gets to race herself. Her friends and family outside the sport are always amazed by what she does and offer unwavering support. Tash’s aspirations for the future are grand. She dreams of expanding Streetbike Drag School and seeing Daniel compete in national and international rounds. One day, she hopes to get back on the track herself.
Tash has many cherished memories in the sport, from being part of Daniel’s championship wins to their first Western National gold tree trophy. Two particularly special moments stand out: Daniel proposing to her at the track and watching riders from their school progress into competitive racing. However, racing also comes with its share of scary moments, such as witnessing a fellow rider skid face down on the track. Tash’s immediate instinct to stop mid-race and run to help highlights her compassionate nature.
In terms of racing, Tash previously competed in Modified Bike drag racing. She races a 2019 Yamaha R1, achieving personal bests of 9.8 seconds at speeds of around 250km/h. The intricacies of modified drag racing involve maintaining consistent times, good reaction times on launch, and mastering various skills—contrary to the belief that it’s just about going in a straight line.
Tash’s role in the team is multifaceted. She is the chief, pit set-up and pack-up expert, timekeeper, videographer, photographer, and the person who keeps Daniel focused on racing. Her support extends beyond the track, reflecting in the growth of their school and the success of their riders.
For those looking to follow in her footsteps, Tash offers invaluable advice:
“Motorcycle drag racing is an amazing way to conquer your fears of riding. Its a safe environment with plenty of fellow riders to help & support you all the way. I always say to my first time ladies going down the track. Once you’ve done your first run, you’ll come back with a grin from ear to ear & be hooked. I haven’t seen a sad face yet.”
Natasha Hayden’s story is one of passion, dedication, and the joy of giving back to the community. Her journey in motorcycle drag racing is not just about personal achievements; it’s about inspiring others and fostering a vibrant, supportive environment for all riders.
